Blossoms 1

Hi all!

I’m back after so time away 🙂 In short: Kidneys stones gone but complications remain but STUDIO is ready!!

I made a big declaration on Instagram (@oi_you_blondie) that my studio was ready so this weekend I was going to be piling out the artwork. I managed this drawing of a Blossom while watching an episode of Mad Men (<3) before having to run out the door for a family dinner ect ect.

I plan to paint this a long with some old drawings I’ve been itching to paint.

Only thing holding me back is “what if I ruin a perfectly good drawing with my painting?”

All my drawing work over the last 2 years is up for the metaphorical ‘chop’, so before I destroy any are there some you think I should just leave alone? Perhaps I should stop focusing on the only and worry about producing something new?

I might start a twitter pole – once a week, find out if I should Paint or Leave it. (Twitter @oi_you_blondie)

Let me know what you think! xx

Love Roots: Finished

This is my most favourite drawing to date 🙂

So far it has received the most likes on Instagram on ANY picture I have ever posted! (It’s 90 likes btw 😉 )

I am very much loving this idea of creating abstract shapes of ‘things’ from tree roots.

ANY ideas of what I should do next? I’ve hit a creative stump.

Health Update: Still no CT Scan *growl*

Love Roots

I actually drew this a couple of weeks ago but health is still declining.

Well and truly fed up with kidney stones and all the other annoying and sometimes humiliating side-effects that come with it. Still no solutions – the joy of the NHS. *growl* Anyhoo:

I took the idea from this from a tattoo design I found on Instagram. It was tree bark in the shape of an anatomical heart – and considering a drew an anatomical heart only the other week for Valentines day, I thought I’d do my twist on it.

I believed this was a promising start! Let’s see how it turns out 😉 xx

#SketchJanuary 2016

Another month, another theme 🙂

The big aim this year is to get back into painting and oh lustrous colour! So this month, though sketching/drawing, will be ideas to turn into paintings later 🙂 I’m not sure what February’s theme is yet… we will let the twitter cult decide 😀

My work last year mainly consisted of the above (and below) theme so I am now trying to – not change- but progress from this into something more colourful and perhaps less abstract. Who knows where the journey will take me!

Watch this space 😉

2015 Review

I mentioned in my last post that I would come up with some goals for the up coming year…

I wanted to focus more on long term goals rather than short term. My lifestyle is hectic enough as it is without adding weekly goals!

In 2014 this blog received 2000+ views.

In 2015 it raised to 5,800+ views.

So for 2016 I’d like to get 10,000 views. Am I overly ambitious? 😀

I’d also like to get 500 Instagram followers and receive 100 likes on one picture.

These goals seem pretty shallow and petty but it’s the easiest way to monitor how well received my art is.

The most liked picture on Instagram was an outline of my ‘Moody Ballerina’ at 57 likes 🙂

But my most viewed piece (ever) was a painting I did in August 2014 called “Birds of a Feather”

Birds of a Feather 4

Already this year I have been asked about this painting! The public demands! So it would almost be idiotic not to branch out from this idea. I have been contacted by several charities and clients about using this image  – and even gaining commissions to replicate it.

I would create a collection from this except… it is already part of an existing collection called ‘The Fly Away’. How can I take this further haha!

Also my lovely boyfriend gave me a large Moleskine sketchbook to put my ideas and drawings in ❤ Hopefully this year will be more successful or at the very least more productive than 2015! 🙂

Robin 1

A little late on the band wagon in terms of Christmas uploads but here we are 😀 This is just a quick paint before everything got shipped away.

I am currently moving house – I have half my stuff in, with all my art stuff piled in the spare room aka Studio. I’m so excited yet massively depressed at having to pay bills again!

I have some goals for 2016 that I’m thinking up right now so watch this space 😉 Feel free to give me some ideas for goals! xx
